Key Note Speaker.

A voluntary speaking role for people who have finished a course like the BlueDot Impact Biosecurity course: take the keynote at a GEBI webinar or seminar, and put what you learned in front of the next cohort.

This is a voluntary role. There is no salary and no stipend — it is a short commitment of your own time, offered to the network because you want to be part of it.

Send your CV and a short note about your interest, with “[Key Note]” in the subject line, and we’ll take it from there.

Who this is for.

This role is intended for people who have graduated from a course like the BlueDot Impact Biosecurity course. You already have the framing, the vocabulary and the evidence base — what you need is somewhere to use them. It is a voluntary role: unpaid, temporary, and small by design.

  • You have completed the BlueDot Impact Biosecurity course, or a comparable program in biosecurity, pandemic preparedness or global health.
  • You are willing to be one of the first voices an early-career audience hears on a topic — clear, honest, and plain about what is not known yet.
  • You are offering your time rather than applying for a job. There is no pay attached to the role, and no expectation that there will be.
  • You can take on a temporary commitment: a small run of sessions, agreed with us and scheduled around your own work.

What you’d do.

GEBI hosts webinars and seminars for its course cohorts, chapters and wider network. As a Key Note Speaker you would take one or more of those sessions, then step back out — it is a temporary role, not an ongoing post.

  • Deliver a keynote at a GEBI webinar and/or seminar, on a topic drawn from your own work.
  • Shape the session with the GEBI team: a talk, a Q&A or both, and who in the network it is for.
  • Keep it readable for people meeting the field for the first time — the same care you would have wanted from the speaker you first heard.
  • Agree the dates directly with us. The commitment is a handful of sessions, not a standing one.

What it gives back.

It is unpaid and it is small, so it has to be worth your time as well as ours.

  • Network

Meet the people in the room

Sessions bring together course cohorts, chapter leads, mentors and our advisory board, across 110+ countries. Speaking is the fastest way in: people come up to the speaker afterwards.

    Cohorts, chapters and partners.

  • Your work

Put your work in front of people

Most biosecurity work is invisible until someone explains it. A keynote is a place to show what you are already doing, why it matters, and where it connects to GEBI’s mission.

    Your topic, your framing.

  • Your skills

Test what the course taught you

The BlueDot course hands you the concepts — risk, governance, evidence, communication. A live audience makes you defend them, in plain language, against good questions.

Explaining is a skill you keep.

Part of the mission.

GEBI exists to turn interest in biosecurity into people who work on it. Most of that happens in courses, chapters and mentoring — but hearing, in someone’s own words, what the work is actually like is often the moment it clicks.

Taking a keynote puts you on that side of it: showing the next cohort what the field looks like from the inside, and helping build the ecosystem you came up through.

Send your CV and a short note about your interest — the course you finished, what you work on now, and the session you would want to give. Or write to hello@gebi.info.
