The Opportunity

A critical gap in biosecurity.

If you’re 26 and living in Cairo, São Paulo or Sofia, and you decide you want to work on biosecurity, there’s no clear next step. It isn’t a lack of interest or talent. There are simply very few avenues for it to flow into.

The field also recruits narrowly. It needs engineers, policymakers and public health professionals as much as biologists, yet most training asks for a life-sciences background, and what exists clusters around a handful of hubs.

And no one has yet proven a model that reliably turns interest into people who work in biosecurity. So we won’t declare a global network on day one. We’ll prove it hub by hub.
